About This Site

ATV Quad Accessories Hub publishes hands-on reviews and plain how-to guides for the gear that bolts onto a quad. We cover winches and recovery gear, cargo racks and carriers, LED light bars, ratchet straps and tie-downs, and covers for storage between rides. Everything here is written from the point of view of someone who owns one machine, maintains it himself, and has already lived through the annoyance the accessory is meant to fix.

ATV Safety

ATVs roll, and they roll faster than people expect. The most common serious injuries in this sport come from rollovers and crush injuries, riding beyond your skill on unfamiliar terrain, and riding without a helmet or eye protection. Wear a helmet every time, including on the short rides close to home.

Do not carry a passenger on a machine built for one rider, and do not put a child on an adult-size machine. Avoid paved roads. An ATV has a high center of gravity and low-pressure tires, and it handles badly on asphalt.

Winching deserves its own caution. A loaded cable or synthetic line stores a great deal of energy and can whip if it fails. Keep everyone clear of the line and never stand over it while it is under load. Use a line damper, and never wrap a cable around your hand.

In desert and summer riding, heat exhaustion and dehydration are real risks. Carry more water than you think you need. Tell someone your route, and think hard before riding alone somewhere with no cell signal and no way to call for help.

No accessory on this site makes an unsafe ride safe. A winch, a light bar or a set of straps is not a substitute for a helmet, proper training, or riding within your limits.
